Event Details
Killer Moon was formed by Jesse Garza, Alejandro Santoyo and Amaris Aviles in the summer of 2007 in Chicago. The group honed in on their sound for about a year before deciding to take their talents to South Florida to play for former cocaine cowboys and Haitian refugees. Garza, Santoyo and Aviles were in Miami for 2 years playing shows and living under the same roof until the two decided to move b...ack to the Chicago on Thanksgiving in 2010. Upon their return to the Windy City, Killer Moon started playing shows at a break neck pace. The trio has recently started touring in the Midwest and continues to draw increasingly larger crowds in Chicago. Killer Moon’s new album, Tunnel Vision, was recorded at Engine Studios with producer and musical wizard Sanford Parker. Tunnel Vision will be released in the upcoming months but no official date has been set yet. Creepy Band was born on the Devils night. 5 souls came together to play one show October 30th 2010 and play they did. The combination of the guitar, bass, drums, church organ, and screaming vocals wove together in a dissonant harmony, loud yet maintaining a subtle eeriness not to be forgotten. They quickly realized that the horror must be continued and are now doomed to haunt Chicago venues forever with their distinct new genre of Creepy Rock n Roll... All original heavy quartet, ALMA NEGRA, consisting of Greg Hamilton (Blasted Diplomats, Fast Product, Big Buildings,) Erin Armstrong (Nones), Geoff Atkinson (Telenovela, Pyrite, Peralta), and Ivan Cruz (Yakuza) team up to drop some bass, rattle ear drums, and make some noise. Screamale vocals, dualing guitars, moog synths, bass and drums bode well for fans of metal, pysch, and punk. Earplugs recommended.

“Chicago-based trio Killer Moon describe themselves as "a psychedelic jam band with classic rock and doomy sludge undertones," which is too spot-on for us to meddle with. Tracks like "Summer" and "Tunnel Vision" would fit comfortably in either the local psych-rock circle or Chicago's bastion of progressive (which is not to say prog) metal. (The band's long-gestating LP Tunnel Vision — which gets the record-release toast at this Empty Bottle gig — is produced by local go-to metal butterfly Sanford Parker.) Like-minded Alma Negra and theatrical sideshow punks Creepy Band open.” more at flavorpill.com

Given that Killer Moon's new self-titled, self-released album has tracks called "Lords of the Nine," "Chilam's Bidding," and "The Dark Rift," it's not hard to see the influence of Frank Frazetta—the fantasy artist famed for his van-worthy paintings of Conan the Barbarian and buxom, otherworldly cheesecake. more at chicagoreader.com
