Darkroom Demons is a window into the soul of popular culture. Creative Partners Tyler Curtis and Matt Reeves have worked diligently to become two photographers who operate outside of the box for the mainstream clients with a singular vision focused on fashion, music, nightlife, and branding. Founded in 2007, they were named along 4 others in GenArt and Acura’s national “We are the Night” campaign as 2 photographers to watch in the summer of 2008. Their fine artwork photography has toured from coast to coast and also been featured by Formatmag.com, Green Label Sound Records, Alkaline Trio, StudioBooth and Microsoft and on the Kid Dangerous Clothing Lines found at Nordstrom’s (with their 2nd graphic tee line debuting in late 2012).
Boasting an impressive client list, their event and entertainment photography has been seen in over 30 national PRINT publications including: USA Today, Vogue, Paper Magazine, Nylon Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Fader Magazine, AP Magazine, SPIN, BPM, Kerrang! (UK), XL8RTR, GQ, Men’s Vogue, Hello!, Us Weekly, InTouch Weekly, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune (MetroMix), Modern Luxury (CS), Chicago Magazine, Chicago Scene Magazine, Image Chicago Magazine, Nightclub and Bar Magazine, Michigan Ave and a constant feature with Time-Out Chicago. The duo were exceptionally visible during their residency as the shooters for the Sun-Times’s “Susanna’s Night Out” from 2006-2009.
Their presence is felt all over the world thanks to the their unique take on any subject matter: Matt has made multiple fruitful journeys to Europe and Japan, with the bragging rights of capturing Lady Gaga on 3 continents. In the summer of 2011, Tyler invaded the White House with Manchester United Football Club after touring with them for the entire month of July across the US. Their clients in 2011 included TopShop, AON, Chivas Regal, Sprint, IGN, Hilton Hotel Group, The Ritz-Carlton and Four-Seasons, Best Buy, Atlantic Records, Playboy, Absolut, Pernod-Ricard USA to name a few.
Beyond the lens, they have been spotted on the hosting committees for the Modern Wing Gala, the SAIC Fashion Walk (2009-2010) and Kohl’s Childrens’s Museum (2011) as well as providing services to many local cancer and human-rights charities, as well as future forward organizations like TedxMidWest.
Luck and a smidgen of talent has earned some sort of reputation that puts them in front of everyone and anyone without any drama. They always know how lucky they are to have the coolest job on the planet.
2012 brings their cameras to Barcelona, Paris, London, NY, LA and the Far East.

August 17, 2011Neo has one of the most interesting histories as far as nightclubs go. This place is the longest running club in the city, with the likes of David Bowie & Iggy Pop DJing here in the early 80s to Chicago industrial pioneers Ministry playing their first show here. Their weekly Thursday new wave night has been a staple under various names over the years… but one thing hasn’t changed. Whoever you are & whatever you are about… you will dance til the dawn.

May 11, 2012Though he came up in New York’s art-punk underground with his Sonic Youth bandmate Thurston Moore and has a long history of making noisy, experimental solo records, Lee Ranaldo has always been the member of the band who contributed the most straightforwardly melodic songs—and the only one who could reliably carry a tune with his voice. more at chicagoreader.com

May 09, 2012M. Ward was a talented, much-beloved indie singer-songwriter before he became the talented, much-beloved indie singer-songwriter by the side of Zooey Deschanel in She & Him. That duo tends toward softer, wispier strains than Ward does on his own, but his sound still slots in well with aspects of folk from the ’70s. more at avclub.com
