May 18, 2012Ontario’s PS I Love You sounds a lot like Wolf Parade. Like, kind of a lot. Maybe Wolf Parade meets Oberhofer, if you want to throw another band comparison in there for comparison’s sake.

May 18, 2012Chicago’s Alex and the Drummer is a duo featuring Aleksandra (Aleks) Tomaszewska on keyboards and her drummer, Deric Criss. Get it? Let me tell you, this is one bizarre band. Their music is a lo-fi electro affair that just gives off an overall creepy vibe. It’s minimal, eerie, and often enchanting.

Featured Review from Oh My Rockness
May 21, 2012Holy shit, Goes Cube is an insanely good band. I went to see these guys expecting nothing and came away feeling newfound hope for the future of rock in New York City. Their formula is simple, the singer/guitarist wails while stomping on his distortion pedal, the bassist blasts out quick booming riffs, and the drummer, well, the drummer is just sick. He’s seriously the best drummer I’ve seen in quite a while. When he really gets into it, he even stands up in order to get the optimal angle for precise pummeling. Now that’s rock ‘n’ roll.

Featured Review from Oh My Rockness
May 21, 2012It’s always nice to stumble upon a band that you know they know exactly what they’re doing, who aren’t just fucking around… a band that believes in craftsmanship. Stockholm, Sweden’s I Break Horses are one of those bands.

Featured Review from Oh My Rockness
May 21, 2012With a name like Langhorne Slim, you know exactly what this guy sounds like before you even hear him… gangsta hip-hop straight from the urban jungle. Actually, NYC’s Langhorne Slim, as his moniker suggests, plays old-time countrified blues with punk rock edge. He is a man seemingly from another era; a traveling old world troubadour with an acoustic guitar, banjo, harmonica and hat acting as his only luggage. This is Americana music that makes you want to stomp your feet and get wasted to. Doesn’t “Lorretta Lee Jones” just sound like the name of a great drinking song? For fans of Two Gallants, Towns Van Zandt and the Great Depression. more at ohmyrockness.com

May 14, 2012Donning hip witch garb complete with dark make-up, the Black Belles exude a loud griminess live that is missing from their self titled album. Read more about the Black Belles and Michael Lux & the Bad Sons on HEAVEmedia.com
