      {PRETTY LIGHTS} PLC preview: Colorado has become a haven for electronic artists to emerge from, Derek Vincent Smith, the man behind the monstrous light show, and DJ name Pretty Lights was one of the first ones to make it on the map. Known for his unbelievable sampling, and soothing synth lines along with a splash of hip hop flavor, he has been making waves in the American electronic scene. Just like his music, his stage setup will also amaze, towers of lights light up the whole stage making a pretty lights concert one you will never forget. -Derek Bogseth {PLC}

      {JANES ADDICTION} PLC preview: Perry Farrel is taking time off from planning Lollapalooza, to bring his powerhouse alternative rock band to Summercamp. Jane’s Addiction reminds me of the 90’s and Q101… may it rest in peace… power songs like “Jane Says” and “Superhero”; which is the opening credit song to the hit HBO show Entrourage for those who didn’t know. With only 4 released albums, and random hiatuses, it isn’t that often you get to catch the band that VH1 labels at the 35th best rock artists of all time. -Derek Bogseth {PLC}

      {COMMON} Representing the Chicago hip hop scene loud and proud is Common. Not your average thugged out rapper, more of a sophisticated and intelligent lyricist. His rhymes can’t be out done, as clever and crisp he is on his albums, Common is just the same on stage, as he was one of the hip hop headliners at Northcoast Music Festival last summer. Chillicothe is like the apple that fell off Chicago’s tree, you can expect a big crowd for this not as cocky at Kanye West hometown hip hop hero. -Derek Bogseth {PLC}

      {PRIMUS} PLC preview: Les Claypool has to be one of the oddest people in the music business to me, not sure why but just rubs off as that way. His band Primus, will be playing at Summercamp, and it will be sure to be weird. Everyone knows who they are, if not, you have seen Southpark and know the entrance theme. This is truly one band that doe not have a genre, in an interview Les Claypool stated his music is psychedelic polka. Grab your big brown beaver and people watch, because this scene will have some interesting dancers… -Derek Bogseth {PLC}

      {Umphrey’s Mcgee} PLC preview: When you think of local jam bands, one name should come to mind…Umphrey’s Mcgee. They play so many types of music; it’s hard to put them in just a typical progressive rock genre. Hailing from Chicago and South Bend, these guys play everything from funk, rock, and bluegrass, and everything else that falls between. Also playing for 3 nights at Summercamp, them and Moe are the main acts that keep this festival the franchise jam fest that it is. -Derek Bogseth {PLC}

      {MOE} PLC preview: Moe. Is no stranger to the American jam band scene, they will be playing all 3 days at Summercamp. It’s been 20 years since their first album release “Fatboy,” and they are showing no signs of letting up. They have graced the stage of every major American festival playing Bonaroo a total of five times. With psychedelic rockish sounding vocals and elaborate jam sessions in their songs, they will get all the moe.rons dancing in frenzy. Truly a treat to have at this year’s festival, since they have 20 plus years of music to play you can guarantee that each set will be different. This will be the 11th year in a row they will be rocking out in Chillicothe. -Derek Bogseth {PLC}

      about 1 month ago

      Rusko stated a while back Chicago is his second home because he loves electronic music scene and party atmosphere this kick ass city has too offer. Well he wasn’t joking, He is back for the 5th time in the last year, following up after his sell out New Years Eve shows. This cockney thug is always a delight to see live, from his glowing name in the background to his various styles of music. He isn’t all about dubstep, Rusko switches around and plays all sorts of electronic types to please all. He is a ball of energy on stage and truly shows how much he has love for his fans and his music. Be sure to check out Rusko at the Congress on May 5th.Derek Bogseth {PLC Pre-Review}

      PARTYLINECHICAGO on 'The X Tour' EXCISION @ The Congress Theater

      about 1 month ago

      What are you doing on 4-20? I’ll tell you, you should be at the Congress checking out Excision. Excision is bringing his killer 100,000 watt sound system into the congress which will be sure to make your body feel vibrations for days. As a dubstep artist its expected that his beats are bassy, but Excision takes it to another level and his beats are just down right filthy. He is showcasing a new stage set up that will be sure to make this a memorable night of lights and womps! Derek Bogseth {PLC Pre-Review}
