Featured Review from TimeOutChicago
March 23, 2011A rollicking rockabilly ride that gives the jukebox musical a good name, this hot show applies the truthiness doctrine to rock & roll. Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and a newly signed Jerry Lee Lewis really did meet up one fortuitous night in 1956 for a jam session at Sam Phillips’s Sun Studio. more at timeoutchicago.com

Featured Review from TimeOutChicago
April 17, 2011Billy Bungeroth ( Absolute Best Friggin’ Time of Your Life ) takes the reins for the Mainstage’s 99th revue and handles them well. Scenes including a racially charged standoff between Cubs and White Sox fans and a farewell to Daley get a lift from both Bungeroth’s whiz-bang staging. The mixed batch of Second City vets and newcomers, particularly Holly Laurent, Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson bring this new show awfully close to heaven more at timeoutchicago.com

Featured Review from Chicago Reader
February 02, 2012It doesn’t take much squinting to see the Hold Steady and their fans as one of America’s happier and better-adjusted (not to mention most booze-drenched) cults, but anyone expecting front man Craig Finn to dish the same kind of radically affirmative rock on his recently released solo debut, Clear Hearts, Full Eyes (Vagrant), will probably be thrown by the album’s opener, “Apollo Bay.” more at chicagoreader.com
