Featured Review from TimeOutChicago
June 16, 2011From his early ambient and jazzy drum ‘n’ bass excursions as Wagon Christ to the diverse array of electronica he’s released under his own name, Luke Vibert is a tireless sonic explorer. Often compared to Aphex Twin or Squarepusher, his music is at times delightful and carefree, and at others, harsh and challenging. more at timeoutchicago.com

Featured Review from The Onion A.V. Club
July 13, 2010The members of Congolese band Konono No. 1 were aiming for resourcefulness rather than stylishness when they built crude scrap-metal amplifiers for their likembé thumb pianos in the late 1970s. The resulting flurries of distorted notes—mixed with traditional ensemble singing and hand percussion—earned a warm reception from both world- and electronic-music fans when Belgian label Crammed Discs released 2005’s Congotronics. more at www.avclub.com

Featured Review from Chicago Reader
July 09, 2010They aren’t the only so-called desert-blues band to emerge in the wake of Tinariwen’s success, but Niger’s ETRAN FINATAWA stand out as a multiethnic ensemble, including not just Kel Tamashek members (frequently referred to as Tuareg) but also Wodaabe—the latter are the fellows in feathered turbans and colorful face paint. more at www.chicagoreader.com
