Woodrow Hart
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Woodrow Hart splits his time between his banjos and resonators & the thrift store record bins. He’s not trying to worry about all the different names folks have given to American music over the last century; in his own mind, he plays either city songs or country songs. Over the last few years, Woodrow has either been dragging his songs through the tobacco fields of the Carolina Piedmont or down the back alleyways of Chicago. In that time, he’s performed them everywhere from beauty parlors to wooden barns; art galleries to cookouts; elementary schools to tattoo shops; old folks homes to ball fields; on fishing boats & highway shoulders; at truck stops & in truck cabs; in gangways & on front stoops…as well as plenty of more traditional venues. The great backdoor city of Chicago, Illinois is where Woodrow has been kicking around lately. Maybe you’ll bump into him and his rotating band of handsome players, or maybe he’ll be all by his lonesome. Either way, say hello.

Featured Review from TimeOutChicago
July 19, 2011Hailing from Lubbock, Texas, the Thrift Store Cowboys are both part of that town’s storied sons (which stretch from Buddy Holly to the Flatlanders) as well as the kind of more contemporary loosely country bands that bristle at being boxed in to any one category. more at timeooutchicago.com
