about 1 year agoVampire Weekend’s 2010 sophomore triumph, Contra, sports a model on the cover. It’s fitting, as the band brings to mind a sage fashion maxim that applies to all art: Before you go out, look in the mirror and take two things off. Everything about the Manhattan band, from fonts and polos to snares and synthesizers, speaks to a clear vision and sense of style. The quartet’s two self-produced albums are packed with subtle varieties of sonic textures both organic and synthetic, but direct, uncluttered and well designed. more at chicago.timeout.com
