312 Urban Wheat Ale
Presents: Do312’s 1-Year Birthday Bash
Do312 is turning one year old! To celebrate, we’re throwing a Big Ol’ Birthday
bash with amazing local DJs, some of our favorite new bands, and a refreshing
hosted bar – and you’re invited! Did we mention it’s FREE when you RSVP on
Do312?
It’s our way of saying thanks to the over 66,000 users like you who’ve made
Do312 your go-to spot for Chicago happenings. Oh, and another excuse for a
bumping get-together. Here’s the skinny:
The Evening Line-Up!
312 Ale will be hosting the bar for the first hour of the gig, so get there
early to sip on this great local brew from Goose Island. DJ Greg Corner – of
Kill Hannah/Dark Wave Disco/Indie-Pendent fame will get the party started, then
DJ duo Team Bayside High hit the decks, followed by the Chicago Debut of Yellow
Ostrich – one of this year’s SXSW darlings at 9:15pm. Minneapolis-based
basement folksters Peter Wolf Crier will be taking the stage at 10:15, until
Mother Hubbard –of Moneypenny/UR Chicago/ Spandexx/Lifetime During Wartime –
closes the night out.
The Band Deet’s! Yellow Ostrich formed in a Wisconsin dorm room in early 2009 as
the solo recording project of Alex Schaaf. Over the course of the next year,
Schaaf released six albums and EPs, including three EPs in August, 2010: Fade
Cave, The Morgan Freeman EP, and The Serious Kids EP. Alex relocated to New
York City in the summer of 2010, recruited Michael Tapper (We Are
Scientists/Bishop Allen) to play drums, and began to play locally in New York
City. The Mistress, Yellow Ostrich's debut LP, was released in October. After
significant grassroots support and acclaim for the album, Afternoon Records
(Pomegranates, Haley Bonar, John Vanderslice) picked up the record and is reissuing
a re-mastered version on February 2011.*CHICAGO DEBUT!
Inter-Be is the debut album by Peter Wolf Crier, the
Minneapolis-based duo of Peter Pisano and Brian Moen. The album was born on a
single summer night when Pisano felt a torrent of creativity after what had
felt, to him, like an interminably long dry spell. He shared the songs with
Moen, and over the months that followed, at Moen's home, these rough-hewed
tunes became what they are now: a confident collection of songs, but deceptive
in that their very guts still reflect the thoughts of a man in transition.
Take-Home Party Favors!
It wouldn’t be a Do312 party if we didn’t give away tickets to some of the
hottest happenings in The Windy City, eh? Lots of lucky partygoers will be
heading home with tickets to Lollapalooza, North Coast Music Festival, and a
whole slew of shows at Double Door, Metro, The Mid, and more!
Here’s To Many More!
We couldn’t have gotten this far without the support of the best music fans in
Chicago, and a vast and amazing supporting cast of bloggers, venues, media
outlets, musicians, promoters, and other partners. So Do312 would also like to
give a special shout out to A/S/L, Berlin, Chicago Reader, Darkroom Demons,
Deadhub, Debonair Social Club, Double Door, Goose Island, Ground Lift Media,
Heave Media, JBTV, KDM, Kingtello, Lincoln Hall, Lollapalooza, Loud Loop Press,
ManbQue, Metro, Nerd City, North Coast Music Festival, Old Style, Popstache,
Reggies, Schubas, Smartbar, Stic-of-the-Week, Team Bayside High, UR Chicago, and
many, many more.
