Acoustic Rock Though the members of Common Shiner each hail from different cities, in 2008 they jointly decided to make Chicago their musical home. It's here that they've crafted their folk-rock sound and explored the notion that pop music can be more than just a hook--it can be meaningful and unifying as well. Influenced not only by the wide array of music they love, but also by their friends and the amazing community of artists they've discovered through local shows and open mics, Common Shiner is ready to share their take on indie pop with everyone and bare their souls to the world. Common Shiner's goal is simple: carve accessible tunes through thoughtful songwriting, and foster a community among fans. With their recently-released acoustic album "Before They Sold Out: Part 1", Common Shiner shows just what can be done with a song when it's stripped to its core. Part 2 (to be released in 2012) will feature louder, more rockin' full-band versions of some of the same songs, plus a wealth of brand-new material showcasing Common Shiner's smart, hummable pop sensibilities.
