Chicago has given much to the world and even more to music, so it’s no surprise that Magic City calls the windy city home. Walk-In Records can’t think of a better band to release the first record on the label than this indie-pop juggernaut. Netherfriends is the never ending touring and recording one man band machine. A rare loop pedal dude who doesn't just getlouder and thicker but opts instead to weave elaborate, beautiful pop songs overflowing with hooks and sentimentality. About 4 minutes into his set, when he starts dancing like James Brown, you'll be hooked for life. Netherfriends (AKA Shawn Rosenblatt) recently finished a year long project where he wrote and recorded a song and performed in all 50 states. (Neil from Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt wrote some of that. 2 months agoChicago's Netherfriends are a young trio that plays catchy synth-pop with perhaps a dash of psych (if psych weren't so serious all the time) and a little bit of hazy laid-back dreaming (like the Animal Collective/Panda Bear thing). more at ohmyrockness.com
