Zeds Dead
DC and Hooks are Zeds Dead. They first hooked up in 2004 and formed Mass Productions. Influenced by the digging in the crates sampling school of hip hop, Mass Productions released one independent album in the summer of 2007 entitled Fresh Beetz. It was their first and only release. In the summer of 2009, the two launched their second collaboration - Zeds Dead - turning up the bpm and aiming the bass-lines at the dance-floor. Soon after Zeds Dead (alongside the Killabits) founded a weekly party in Toronto called BassMentality. Guests have included Nero, Skrillex, 12th Planet, Borgore, Mary Anne Hobbs, Plastician, Netsky, and many more. Two of the hardest workers in electronic music, Zeds Dead's tireless efforts have earned them an excellent reputation amongst a new generation of producers as artists without borders - genres hold no bearing over their music as they transcend style and form with ease. By pulling from a vast array of source material (Radiohead, The Rolling Stones, The Moody Blues, Sublime), and molding it into their unique brand of dance-floor classics, They have established themselves as a dominant force in EDM circles and have received recognition and praise from tastemakers worldwide. With a stockpile of originals and remixes set to be released in 2011, DC and Hooks show no signs of slowing down.
Dillon Francis
Almost out of nowhere, Los Angeles' Dillon Francis has broken from the throng of young electronic music dj/producers. With a stream of world-class remixes and releases, Dillon has caught the attention of some of the top players in club land, including Steve Aoki, Diplo, Will I. Am, Drop The Lime, Sinden, and Tittsworth to name some. In less than a year his blistering productions have been heavily supported by Major Lazer, who opened their show with "Westside!," a Dutch House-flavored monster that was consistently rinsed by top djs on both sides of the pond, including Sinden and Steve Aoki. The tune is finally seeing a proper release on Diplo's Mad Decent label, where Dillon will be releasing his "Masta Blasta" EP as well in the near future.. From his first dubstep release on Play Me Records, the heavy "Take Me High" peaked at No. 13 on the Beatport dubstep chart and was played in full by Rusko in every one of his sets for his current OMG tour. In the coming months, Dillon will have releases on Mad Decent, Dim Mak, Top Billin', as well as Plant Music, where he will be releasing his next club EP. At ease behind the turntables and in the studio, in the electro world and in dubstep, Dillon is what you would call an open-format electronic dj who sees no delineation between making music and playing it. He has gotten huge support from the most important dance music blogs (Dim Mak, Mad Decent, Discobelle, Gotta Dance Dirty) ever since releasing his first bootlegs last year, and 2011 promises to be Dillon's breakout year.
Araabmuzik
The producer behind the recent reemergence of Dipset and Cam'ron strikes out on his own. Like fellow underground rap visionaries Clams Casino and DJ Burn One, Araab makes freelance beats that hint at a fully developed personal aesthetic. And like those guys, he's now striking out on his own, making instrumental music that brings that aesthetic to the forefront. At times, his tracks can sound a bit like the woozy bass music of L.A.'s Brainfeeder scene, but Araab is always more direct and more ferocious than those guys. And yet the sugary beauty of these melodies sound like they belong on his tracks; nothing is
Midnight Conspiracy
"Midnight Conspiracy have surpassed the label of "up-and-coming", and have established themselves as relevant contributors to remix artistry." – Aux.tv "Fast becoming one of the most coveted remix groups around." – The Mahagony Blog "… [they're] on fire: having remixed Crystal Castles, Chromeo and Esser besides Tiga, they have now enough under their belt to be on the road to hipster heaven." – Kunk Budapest "[Their] multifaceted approach to club culture has caught the eyes and ears of Chicago's college-age masses—no small feat." – Time Out Chicago Not much is known about Midnight Conspiracy. It's an organization whose composition and structure are shrouded in secrecy with an agenda known only to its members. The only public evidence of their operation can be seen from their darkly clad agents touring to incite riots on dance floors, spread propaganda on the streets and promote a revolution, which is unknown to the public consciousness. Clues about The Conspiracy can be revealed through their carefully crafted musical announcements intended to send cryptic messages to its members. The first of these musical announcements made waves on the scene back in January of 2010 when Midnight Conspiracy released their debut remix of Chromeo's "Night By Night". The track went on to hit #2 on the Hype Machine charts and since then they've released a dozen tracks, hit the Hype Machine's Top 5 four more times, had a remix on BBC Radio 1 on the Kissy Sell Out Show, an official Crystal Castles remix featured for that band's HARD Summer Tour, a Beatport featured exclusive on Red Bull Records and somehow managed to tour over 50 cities in 2 continents, create their Dead Fame clothing line and leave street art along their tour path -- all in their first year of existence. With already confirmed bookings at Ultra Music Festival in Miami and North Coast Music Festival in Chicago, and a set of dark heavy new originals in the pipeline, 2011 is poised to be a breakout year for the propagation of Midnight Conspiracy's agenda. - Artists
