Bike-In Movie Theater: T.A.M.I Show
Imagine drive-in movies from way back when: parking on the lawn, tuning in with the car radio, sneaking in beer. Now imagine that by way of your bike: no gas money, no battery drain, no dirty windshield obscuring the art. On Sunday, May 13th at 8pm, this seemingly unattainable dream will come true on the patio of the Hideout. The Logan Square International Film Series and The Hideout present a special outdoor, bike-in screening of the legendary and finally officially released music documentary, 'T.A.M.I Show' Filmed in 1964 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, this is arguably the very best rock-concert movie ever made, packed start to finish with nearly two hours of absolutely essential performances by an unprecedented group of American and British rock, pop, soul, and Motown legends. Dig this lineup: Marvin Gaye, the Supremes (look for Teri Garr as one of the dancers during "Where Did Our Love Go?"), Chuck Berry, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Leslie Gore, Jan and Dean, a phenomenal James Brown and the Flames, followed (!) by the Rolling Stones rising to the occasion after Brown's legendary performance (Keith Richards has said that performing after Brown was perhaps the biggest mistake the band ever made). Never released on home video, The T.A.M.I. Show was the holy grail of rock-concert movies that finally saw an official release in 2010. Just don't sneak in the beer - Hideout bar has you covered all night long. 'The T.A.M.I. Show' by Steve Binder Rated NR | 112 minutes Free admission for 21+ (or children accompanied by their legal guardian)
