RED BULL CURATES: THE CANVAS COOLER PROJECTIn seven U.S. cities, Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project will pair 20 hand-picked artists with venue owners from some of the hottest local bars, lounges and restaurants. Artists will be given a one-day challenge to transform a blank canvas-wrapped Red Bull Cooler into an inspired work of art customized for permanent display at each venue. The art created in each city will be exhibited in a one-night only public showcase at a local gallery where attending guests and a panel of curatorial judges will vote on each piece, sending two artists, and possibly a third, to SCOPE Miami in December. In Chicago, the public showcase will take place on Thursday, May 16 at Lacuna Artists Lofts, a unique space that claims 2012 winner, Hebru Brantley, as one of its many unique occupants.
SHINES A LIGHT ON CHICAGO’S EMERGING ARTISTS
Project Gives Artists Unique Exhibition & Career Boosting Opportunities
Two Chicago artists will be selected by the luminary panel of judges and announced the night of the event to move on to show and sell their work at SCOPE Miami. In addition, at each Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project show, two artists will be entered into a pool of contestants to win the People’s Choice Award—an opportunity to also exhibit and sell their artwork at SCOPE Miami. The two artists entered into the pool will be chosen based upon the number of mentions on Twitter using their custom hashtag the night of their city’s event. The Chicago winners will be announced on Friday, May 17 and the winner of the overall pool will be announced in November. Further details on the Chicago event can be found at http://www.redbullusa.com/canvascooler.
