Some bands never take off. Others must only wait for the perfect combination, continuously molding and adjusting as musicians come and go. Finding Z experienced exactly that. Childhood friends Dan Swiss, Brett Davis, and Brent Beachler were in and out of bands throughout high school and early college. It wasn't until the three found bassist Christopher Miller and formed a band together that they finally synced. Swiss (vocals), Davis (guitar), Beachler (drums), and Miller began fusing a personal style in the genre of alternative rock, taking elements from established bands they admired and fashioning their music into something that was their own.
After establishing a fan base (affectionately termed "Zed Heads") through performances throughout Indiana--including their own alma mater, Purdue--Finding Z teamed up with producer Alex Kercheval of Scentia Studios to record their first album, Make it Right. After completing the project and releasing it in May 2011, Finding Z relocated to Chicago and are currently promoting Make it Right throughout the Midwest.
While the band loves playing, and primarily focuses on, original music, they know how to keep the crowds happy with a wide range of covers spanning from classic artists such as Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, and Eddie Money to more modern rock bands like Third Eye Blind, Green Day, and Foo Fighters. To keep things fresh, Finding Z also likes to stylize their own rock renditions of pop performers including Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, and Taio Cruz.
