It all started on a backpacking trip thru Europe. With trip’s end in
sight, short on cash and Irish in heritage, John McGillion began
frequenting many of Spain’s bars offering free tapas. It was in
Barcelona where the idea first struck. Why not open a bar back in NYC
that served just free pizza? A couple of years later the Crocodile
opened on 14th Street just East of Union Square. The Crocodile Chicago
in Wicker Park and Crocodile Philly in Old City opened December 2008
and June 2010 respectively.
