If there's one thing we've seen during these last few months, it's how important community can be. So many people have come together to help those in need and these nonprofits are no exception. The folks at PepRallyTakeOver aim to uplift the youth in our city by holding rallies at schools rewarding kids for good attendance, grades, school spirit and more. Local catering pros Entertaining Company have embarked on a non-for-profit endeavor to thank healthcare workers that are working in assisted living homes with COVID-19 patients by providing them with healthy meals. Many of these staff members work 12-16 hour days with just a granola bar to get them through the day, and Entertaining Co. is stepping in to fix that problem. Experimental Sound Studio has orchestrated livestream concerts throughout the entirety of quarantine, called The Quanratine Concerts, to help artists support themselves in these times. In 2020, more than 67% of jobs in Illinois require some type of postsecondary education or training yet 3 million adults lack education beyond high school. Chicago Citywide Literacy Coalition aims to change that by helping adults improve their literacy skills, complete their high school education and help them on the pathway to a career.
